Gateways Industrial Park Receives GRAD Certification

Georgia Ready for Accelerated Development (G.R.A.D. or GRAD) Certification was created by the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) as a way to ensure an industrial property or park is ready and available for prospective businesses

Time is Money

The GRAD Certification requires property owners to do as much due diligence as possible before a prospect views the property.  This saves a lot of time for the business which can mean big cost savings.

Gateways Industrial Park Receives GRAD Certification

The Gateway Industrial Park is a 70-acre GRAD certified land that is conveniently located less than a mile off Interstate 95.  The parcel of land has an abundance of road frontage and is immediately adjacent to the Tradewinds Industrial Park consisting of approximately 200 acres.

GRAD Certification Attracts Prospective Businesses

Having the Gateways Industrial Park GRAD Certified is beneficial to the community because of the increased looks Glynn County gets from Prospective business and business location decision makers.  Prospective companies and/or their reps don’t have to wonder how long it will take to develop a site or if the site will have complications during development.  As much pre-engineering work is done on the front end as possible so new businesses can get started right away.  For this reason, GRAD Sites are far less risky that non-certified sites or industrial parks.

Mel Baxter, Interim Director of the Brunswick – Glynn County Development Authority stated “already in the short amount of time that our industrial park has become a GRAD Site, we’ve had several serious looks.  Glynn County is really getting some positive attention.”

What is GA GRAD?

The Georgia Ready for Accelerated Development Sites Program (GRAD) is a proactive effort by Georgia’s economic development community to develop a pool of available sites ready for industrial development. The GRAD designation for an industrial site means that the site has been pre-reviewed and pre-qualified following the below criteria:

  • Phase I environmental assessment

  • Preliminary geotechnical investigation

  • Cultural and endangered species investigation

  • Zoning designation

  • Utility service assessment

  • Wetlands and stream delineation
