The Brunswick & Glynn County Development Authority is dedicated to supporting our local businesses that fall within our targeted industries of aerospace, advanced manufacturing, and logistics.
The Manufacturers Round Table
The existing industries in Brunswick & Glynn County enjoy a strong sense of community among the industry leaders. Once per quarter, around 30 of the areas manufacturers get together to discuss how they can pool their resources to make a positive impact on the area’s business climate. As a group, they have decided to focus on working with the local education system to introduce students to modern manufacturing.
The meeting takes place at the College of Coastal Georgia or at the Golden Isles Career Academy. The meetings have galvenized the manufacturing community and has made quite a bit of excitement for the possibilities of what this group can accomplish.
The meetings are not open to the public, the press, or elected officials, which allows free discussion on what the real issues are and what can be done to change them. In addition, many of the manufacturers that have not had the opportunity to meet one another and as the result of these meetings, some business deals have been made.
Golden Isles Career Academy Industry Tours
Quality workforce is a major concern for manufacturers everywhere. The local industrial community has decided they want to be a part of the local community and help further the goals of the Golden Isles Career Academy (GICA). Once a semester several local industries host students from GICA. The students leave the tours with a new appreciation of what it takes to be employed and the skills necessary to be successful in a modern manufacturing environment.
