CALL TO ORDER Chairman Paulo Albuquerque called the meeting to order at 10:00am. II. INVOCATION, PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE & WELCOME GUESTS Mel Baxter gave invocation and Chairman Paulo Albuquerque welcomed guests. III. PUBLIC COMMENT Chairman Paulo Albuquerque invited public comments from the guests. IV. ACCEPT AGENDA A MOTION was made by Bill Austin, seconded by Wayne Johnson and passed unanimously to amend the agenda to omit the Storm Water Utility Program update and to include an update on the Presidential Search as presented. The MOTION carried unanimously: 5-0 V. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – April 23, 2018 Minutes & May 14, 2018 Called Minutes A MOTION was made by Wayne Johnson and seconded by Bill Austin to approve the April 23, 2018 Meeting Minutes as presented. The MOTION carried unanimously: 5-0. A MOTION was made by Jones Hooks and seconded by Jack Kilgore to approve the May 14, 2018 Called Meeting Minutes as presented. The MOTION carried unanimously: 5-0. VI. GCAC Rob Burr gave update on the Audit Selection and reappointment process. More to come. VII. CHAIRMAN ITEMS Chairman Paulo Albuquerque gave an update on the presidential search finalists. The Board will be meeting the end of May and first of June with front-runners. More to come. VIII. FINANCIALS - Joan Hearn A. Approve Financials – April 2018 A MOTION was made by Bill Austin and seconded by Jack Kilgore to approve the April financials as presented. The MOTION carried unanimously: 5-0. A MOTION was made by Bill Austin and seconded by Jones Hooks to approve an increase to the Synovus credit card from $10,000 to $20,000 as presented. The MOTION carried unanimously: 5-0. IX. UPDATES President’s Information Items: • Projects Report – Mel Baxter and John Scott reviewed various projects. • Marketing – John Scott reviewed various upcoming RLF’s for the month. • BRE Updates- o John Scott reviewed Industry Appreciation week along with City and County Proclamations handed out along with gifts being distributed to various industries. o John Scott reported that Chamber luncheon was well attended this week. o John Scott has implemented Base Camp to help organize projects via internet between all EDA related groups in our area. X. IMPORTANT DATES • Development Authority Board Meeting – 10:00am, Monday, June 25th • Chamber Annual Dinner – Jekyll Island Convention Center, 6pm-8pm, June 14th • Chamber Breakfast –King & Prince Delegal Room, 7:30am – 9am, May 23rd XI. EXECUTIVE SESSION A. Closed Session – Real Estate OCGA Section §50-14-3(b)(1)(B) B. Closed Session - Discussion of Personnel OCGA Section §50-14-2(b)(2) A MOTION was made by Wayne Johnson and seconded by Bill Austin to enter into Closed Session to discuss Real Estate OCGA Section §50-14-3(b)(1)(B) and Discussion of Personnel OCGA Section §50-14-2(b)(2). The MOTION carried unanimously: 5-0. A MOTION to was made by Jones Hooks and seconded by Wayne Johnson to return to Open Session. The MOTION carried unanimously: 5-0. Returned to Open Session XII. ADJOURN A MOTION to adjourn was made by Bill Austin and seconded by Wayne Johnson. The MOTION carried unanimously: 5-0. The meeting adjourned at 11:15. Don Mathews was filled with good news at the annual economic outlook luncheon Thursday. The professor of economics and director of the Reg Murphy Center for Economic and Policy Studies at College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick, took to the podium to deliver a highly optimistic forecast.
