New “Career Ready Certification” Program Launched for Glynn County Students

In a collaborative effort to enhance local workforce development, the Golden Isles College and Career Academy, together with Coastal Pines Technical College, has launched an exciting new program designed to prepare high school students in Glynn County for promising careers. Dubbed the “Career Ready Certification,” this initiative is part of a broader strategy outlined in the Golden Isles Talent Development Strategy, which seeks to nurture and sustain the local workforce.

The program recently selected twenty-two high school students who will gain not only invaluable work experience but also earn certifications crucial for their future career paths. By the end of the program, each student will have obtained an OSHA Forklift Certification and a ServSafe Handler Certification, equipping them with the skills needed to excel in the workforce.

These students had a unique opportunity last week to visit the Rich Products Corporation’s manufacturing facility in Brunswick. This visit provided them with a firsthand look at the operations of a major local employer and highlighted the diverse career opportunities available within their community. Such experiences are vital for students to link their education and certifications with real-world applications, demonstrating the practical benefits of their hard work and studies.

The launch of the Career Ready Certification program has been met with enthusiasm from all stakeholders involved. This initiative not only helps students gain direct entry into skilled positions but also supports local industries in need of trained professionals. This aligns perfectly with the goals of the Golden Isles Talent Development Strategy, ensuring that the local economy continues to thrive with a skilled, well-prepared workforce.
