Glynn County School System
The Georgia Department of Education has developed resources for parents to better understand the new assessment system and student performance model that were launched in 2014 throughout the state.
Georgia Milestone is a comprehensive assessment system spanning grades 3 through high school that measures how well students have learned the knowledge and skills outlined in the state-adopted content standards in language arts, mathematics, science and social studies.
The Glynn County School System is strongly committed to providing a rich mix of educational opportunities for all its citizens, which in turn produces a skilled, well-trained workforce for its growing business community. Just in the past five years, we have added the College of Coastal Georgia, offering four-year baccalaureate degrees; the Golden Isles College and Career Academy, a public charter school offering eighteen career-learning programs in state-of-the-art facilities; two new middle schools and a new high school. Also under construction is a new campus for Coastal Pines Technical College, a community college with more than 80 associate degree, diploma and certificate programs. The new Coastal Pines Technical College campus is open and in full operation.
Engagement with the local business community is a core value in all our schools, insuring a cooperative environment and mutually-beneficial ventures that include service learning, professional development programs, and economic development partnerships.
Hope Scholarship
Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally — is Georgia’s unique scholarship and grant program that rewards students with financial assistance in degree, diploma, and certificate programs at eligible Georgia public and private colleges, universities, and public technical colleges. Funded entirely by the Georgia Lottery for Education, over $5.8 billion in HOPE funds have been awarded to more than 1.4 million students attending Georgia’s colleges, universities, and technical colleges since 1993.
