Glynn County serves as a regional hub for transportation in Southeast Georgia and offers access to the Port of Brunswick, I95, two Class I rail lines, and an airport that is served by Delta.

Port of Brunswick

and owned and operated by the Georgia Ports Authority. The Port of Brunswick is located 12 miles landward from the open Atlantic Ocean. Currently, the channel width is being widened to 1,000 feet and the depth is being increased to 36 feet. The vertical height clearance of the Sidney Lanier Bridge is 185 feet at mean high tide.

Brunswick Golden Isles Airport

The Brunswick Golden Isles Airport is located on the mainland and offers three daily 37 minute flights to Atlanta (ATL) through DELTA. The runway is 8,000 ft and once served as the runway for a Navy Base. The runway can handle just about any type of aircraft which is one of the reasons why Gulfstream Aerospace has located their finishing facility in the Golden Isles.

The McKinnon St Simons Airport is located on St Simons Island where business and vacation travelers can fly straight into the heart of three of the Golden Isles. McKinnon is a busy general aviation facility serving pilots and passengers with the most up-to-date services in the midst of an island beach/golf/nature getaway. The airport has two active runways – 4/22 at 5,800 feet long and 16/34 at 3,313 feet long. Several non-precision approaches provide inclement-weather access, as well as a visual guidance system to assist pilots on landing.

The Jekyll Island Airport is the perfect airport for quick get aways to Georgia’s Jewel, Jekyll Island.

Interstate 95 and Highway Access

Brunswick and the Golden Isles is easily accessible via Interstate 95, an East Coast artery of commerce from Maine to Miami, and U.S. 17, a scenic route of incomparable beauty. U.S. 341/Golden Isles Parkway, U.S. 25, U.S. 82/GA 520 offer businesses direct access to all areas of Georgia. Additionally, Brunswick and the Golden Isles are serviced by eight local motor freight terminals and numerous motor freight carriers.

Norfolk Southern and CSX Rail Access

interstate-railGlynn County is served by two Class I railroads, CSX and Norfolk Southern, in addition to one short line, the Colonel’s Island Railroad, owned and operated by Rail Link. AMTRAK passenger service is available about an hour’s drive away in Jesup, GA.
