Talent Development Strategy Get a Boost from Georgia Power
Talent attraction and development are too important and too big for any one organization to tackle. A community must work together towards the goal of creating the best places to live, the best businesses to work, and the best environments to learn.
While collaboration and coordination are essential, so are measurable goals. Clearly defined objectives help everyone know what they are working towards. Long-term goals may include increased literacy rates, labor force participation, or new business starts. It’s just as important to have strategies and benchmarks along the way as a community is working towards these larger, long-term goals.
The “Golden Opportunities- Talent Development Strategy For the Golden Isles 2021-2025” is a community-wide strategy to support talent development. The strategy provides action items and goals focused on youth development, an adult workforce, a workforce network, and entrepreneurship.
At this past week’s Board of Governor’s meeting, Georgia Power awarded a $30,000 grant to the Golden Isles Development Authority to continue the implementation of Golden Opportunities. The award was presented by Dialo Cartwright, Area Manager at Georgia Power Company.
Dialo shared that the Golden Isles stood out when Georgia Power evaluated grant proposals because it had a strategy with action items and measurable goals.
Ryan Moore, President & CEO of the Golden Isles Development Authority, provided an update on the implementation, “Since its release in March, nearly 90% of the year-one action items have been completed by volunteers across the County. This couldn’t have happened without the extra time of our staff and the partnership with the Chamber. Everyone is working together to align volunteers and move the strategy forward.”
The strategy is one of the ways that the Golden Isles community is working together, creating the best places to live, businesses to work, and environments to learn. To learn more about the Golden Opportunities strategy and how you can get involved, visit www.growglynnsworkforce.com.
